Snow Remains

The weather's been so gloomy lately and I'm extra relieved that the snow storm missed us today. There's still a ridiculous amount of snow left over from last time. I saw huge mountains of snow piled up in Olney yesterday.

Thankfully the snow is only about a third of what it was in most places. And the birds are starting to come back. On Sunday I saw a flock of 16 robins, but I didn't have my camera with me until yesterday. I hope that they'll be sticking around now that they are here.

And the local hawk is back up on his wire, staring down the mice and other critters. My least favorite season is almost over!

Gorgeous pics, as always!

Great picture of that hawk.

I'm really saddened at how much damage the snow did to plants, shrubs, and trees everywhere.

Thanks Kristin and Barbara - I just hope tomorrow's winds don't do too much further damage to trees already weakened by the snow and the subsequent soggy ground.

The snow sludge is so depressing. And while it's melting, everything else is one giant mud hole. My little street is on a bit of a hill so we get a stream down the center on sunny days. All good stuff for someone with a special needs kid who can't walk past a puddle without jumping in.

The mounds of snow are a pain. I was getting out for a walk at lunch time before the storms, but my usual route is blocked in some places. My son lost his boot playing in the snow after the first storm, and the snow finally melted enough that we found it yesterday. I noticed a bunch of robins as well. Spring will be here in no time. I like the picture of the hawk!

Kate - Well at least there's one person out there enjoying himself in all this disgustingness :)

But you're right, this depressing snow sludge has got to disappear for once and for all - NOW!

Mike - I think we are all looking forward to sunshine and warmer weather, especially on a day like today.

The hawk picture turned out a little strange - it's maximum telephoto, kind of blurry due to lack of sunlight, and then after I hit autocorrect on my photo program I decided to just leave it that way. So it's not the most natural looking thing.

Aww, I'm sorry! I bet it'll all be gone in another two weeks - it's time for some optimism around here!
