I Want Sunshine!!!

Okay, I got that off my chest. I am truly bored with this weather. So I'm going put up some pretty pictures now - maybe that will cheer me up.

Last week I was at the Church of the Reformation almost every night doing a recording session. It was a delightful experience and the highlight of my summer (if you can call it that) so far. The architecture in this church is very unusual - I'm not even sure of the style, but it was a nice place to be for most of the week. I like the way the middle supports for the beams look like giant pencils.

These guys were about a foot from the side of my head all week long. I enjoyed their company very much.

I walked around a little bit during the breaks and enjoyed the interesting architecture outside as well.

The church was only two blocks from the Capitol. It was pleasant to see it from this point of view on East Capitol Street. I'm usually driving towards it on North Capitol.

This week I've been wondering if it means anything that the cabinets in the house I'm never going to get to move back into are exactly the same color as the mist always is in Twilight:

Interesting pics. The giant pencils are cool. I can see that. A local church near me has a weird structure hanging from the ceiling that looks like a giant Pringle. I've theorized that it's for acoustics, but I don't really know.

That's my church. Crazy.

Mike - Thanks, I wish there had been more light inside - the colors are a bit off. A giant Pringle in a church sounds pretty interesting!

Kristin - That's your church? I had no idea. It's a very cool place, and your organist is an outstanding composer!

The architecture of the church is beautiful. But if one of those guys is Martin Luther, I just learned a lot of nasty things about him that would make me want to keep my distance. He was anti- lots of things and people.

I am still wondering about the color of your cabinets in the house you are never going to move back into. How about a photo?

First of all amen to the title of your post. I really like the cornershot. Very interesting structure. I also liked the "pencils". About the giant pringle I like Bowie Mikes theory. Even if it is wrong I like that thought went into the theory.

Looks like a very cool church. Made me think of my all-time favorite church experience when I was strolling down a street in Florence only to hear the booming sounds of a pipe organ. I snuck my head in, as did others, and delighted in some music for a bit. A priest was sitting up front with his lap dog. When I returned to the states, I probably spent three hours searching iTunes for pipe organ music that would be satisfying. To no avail, unfortunately!

I love those guys! They look like they'd be a hoot to have a beer with...

The DSL hasn't worked where I live for nearly a week - super inconvenient!

Barbara - there's a link enclosed in the word "cabinets" above. I'll be posting more about the house soon over at FoamCoreFantasy because we've finally gotten back to working on it again.

Garrett - Amen, Church, Pringle, Funny! Thank God the weather has finally changed.

Fool - Ah, Florence. I USED to get in to Florence fairly often, but no more. There is a lot of obscure but extremely beautiful organ music by less well known composers that the organ majors would perform when I was getting my bachelor's degree in classical piano. But I was paying a lot more attention to piano and orchestra music at that time so I have no real suggestions for you now.

Lilu - I'm sure they are beer drinkers, they don't look like winos at all!

As long as your features don't bleach out in contrast to the cabinets, I think you're okay.
