I had just parked a little bit east of the Atlas Theater and I had one foot out of the car when I saw and heard them approaching. It was really loud even from inside the car.
It didn't really look like a crime situation because they weren't going that fast. I was just having a little fun with the title of this post. I have no life, obviously. And I didn't see any signs of a marathon. It just seemed completely random, especially the one lone police car that went in the opposite direction about halfway through.
Love the magnolia pictures. When we first bought our house I asked hubby if we could plant a magnolia tree because I LOVE THEM SO VERY MUCH. He agreed. Then he went to the nursery by himself and bought Sago Palms (sp?) and some gramma looking flower bushes. blech. He pretended like he forgot then later admitted he doesn't want to plant anything that attracts bees. Big chicken! *wink* no but really...
Twinkie - I know how that goes. We were due to get a couple of trees for our very bare front yard. I've been wanting a weeping cherry for as long as I can remember. Somehow we ended up with TWO white birch trees first. He "thought" I'd like them even better. We still got the cherrry tree but somehow it ended up in the in the back yard. Oh well, at least I have one at last.
Oh geez, please come to my house and steal my weeping cherry. I think it's a nasty ratty looking thing, but he was all about the weeping cherry and it wasn't worth making a fuss about.
My parents' house has a big magnolia tree on the side, the kind with huge white flowers. They smell really good and when I was a kid I was fascinated by how easily the leaves bruised.
When I was growing up they had a row of mimosa trees going down to the street. Boy oh boy I REALLY loved those trees. The sweet-smelling pink powder puff flowers. The ferny-looking leaves. (Chris says it's called "pinnate".)
Wanna trade??? I thought not. Doug loves mimosa trees too. We have an annoying remnant of one that keeps trying to grow in the middle of our forsythia bush. I hate it. Did you know that the leaves close up at night? I think I do enjoy seeing mimosas when they are not in my yard. They are kind of interesting.
I've had my weeping cherry for less than a year so I'm still in the honeymoon stage.

Whatever happened with that police swarm?? That's a little close for comfort...
Was that part of the marathon? Great pics and fun video.

That was just Marion Barry going to donate a kidney to some woman he knows. What a sport.
Would someone really want Marion Barry's kidney?
Yeah, isn't his kidney "pre-owned" anyway?
Peeps!...That was a joke!
I know, I know. It's difficult to convey a tone of voice here - I was just going along with the flow. Anyway I enjoyed your joke!
